new deployment error from Device Portal since upgrade to RS5

I recently got the upgrade to RS5 through the insider program on my Hololens. Before I had no problem deploying Appx files from the device portal, but now whenever I try to deploy I get the following error:

failed with error 0x800706F7. See http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=235160 for help diagnosing app deployment issues. Failure text: The stub received bad data. (0x800706f7)

in the link given, there were instructions on how to view appx deployment issues in the Event Viewer, but when I navigated to their location it showed that there were 0 events logged.

Searching around hasn't yielded any results. This also affects Appx files that have worked before this update. Does anyone know why this might be happening, and how to fix it?

Thanks.
