Using Surface Pro as AR device?

Hi,
I am starting to learn how to develop apps with AR. I was wondering if it’s possible to use the Surface Pro as a AR device, similarly to what you can do with the iPad Pro, instead of using Hololens.

I have been taking a look at the Windows Mixed Reality Documentation and, although you can use a Hololens Emulator, it seems that’s just for developing purposes as you can’t see the world in the emulator (using the Surface’s camera, for example).

I found that MS presented something like that in 2017 and called it “View Mixed Reality”, but I haven’t found any reference in the developers documentation.

Has anyone developed (or seen) apps that run AR on a Surface (or other Windows based tablet/laptop)?

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,
