Can Hololens receive streaming data from external IMU through bluetooth? (e.g. xIMU)

Hello,

I am planning to have real time kinematic data from IMU mounted on foot streamed to hololens for further processing using bluetooth. It must have a acceleration and gyroscope data from that external IMU. (e.g. xIMU). Would this be a possible? I know that the spec page says the bluetooth pairing with another smartphone or PC is not available, but what about external IMUs? Knowing this will tremendously help me.

Thank you very much,

Yanggis

@yanggis the working with accessories page of the docs states specifically:

Microsoft HoloLens includes a Bluetooth 4.1 radio and supports Bluetooth HID and Bluetooth GATT profiles.

So if the board that hosts your IMU also supports either of those two Bluetooth profiles and you are able to program the communications then it should be possible.

However, depending on a number of factors (including data rate and throughput requirements) you might be better off exploring passing the data over the more flexible Wifi alternative.
