Hello everyone.

The Mixed Reality Forums here are no longer being used or maintained.

There are a few other places we would like to direct you to for support, both from Microsoft and from the community.

The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.

For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality.

If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.

And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.

I am locked out of my HoloLens

Here is what happened.

  1. HoloLens PIN no longer worked
  2. Tried using password instead but had forgotten it.
  3. Reset password using web.
  4. Logged into account on the web to verify that it worked: Successful.
  5. Tried logging in again using the HoloLens: Failure.

So now, a PIN that worked in the first place, as well as a new password, do not work on the HoloLens. The HoloLens probably does not know that the password was changed as it could not connect to the internet in the first place. Any ideas?

    1. HoloLens PIN no longer worked

Could you elaborate on this point? What went wrong here? Did the PIN stop getting recognized? Are you sure this is the same PIN you used to sign in to the device before? Are you sure you entered the correct PIN?

As for another method of recover, did you have device portal enabled on the device? If you did, connect the device up to your computer with USB (instructions: https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/holographic/using_the_windows_device_portal#connecting_over_usb). Go to the device portal page. Go to the Networking section. From there, connect your HoloLens to a Wifi network with internet access. Now try to sign in with your new password on the HoloLens.

AlexD: That is what I was afraid of.

Pentose: It is the exact same PIN as before. Since I changed the password, I can't connect to the device portal, I've tried that

The device portal username/password is completely separate from the rest of the system. Changing your MSA password should have no impact on it.

For us they were the same, but I'm going to keep trying.

I hope I'm not too late, Your main problem is forgetting your login password and it can't be restored ,if you're familiar with computer programs, you can try some CMD (Free steps ) to reset your password of your locked computer .
