Hello everyone.

The Mixed Reality Forums here are no longer being used or maintained.

There are a few other places we would like to direct you to for support, both from Microsoft and from the community.

The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.

For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality.

If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.

And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.

How do I leverage a 3D model for initial app placement instead of the default Window

Several applications currently available have 3D models when selecting from the shell and placing for initial startup. The default seems to be the window, but the 3D model experience feels much more polished to me and creates a more luscious environment when having multiple apps placed. I'd love to configure my application to do the same, but can't find any documentation.

If this isn't exposed to developers yet, is there a User Voice where I can up-vote support for this?

Tangentially, is the world placement position of the application available to the application?

I really wish there was a User Voice for the HoloLens!

Moved my tangential question to it's own post - thanks for the answer @neerajwadhwa.
