Hi @Yixun,
All the currently available documentation is here.
Hopefully that's what you need, but in case it isn't, can you say more about what sort of "principle" documentation you are looking for?

The HoloLens display technology is additive, so you really can only superimpose images over the real world -- not alter real world objects. You might be able to do this as a visual trick, though -- use the color camera to capture someone's face, edit it and then overlay it on top of their real face. There will be some bleed through but I think that would just make it look cooler.

Thanks, James, that's what I need.
BTW, I have one more question.
Since HoloLens just add lights to the real world, can I see through the real world.
For example, when I see human face through HoloLens, can I make the human face transparent and see the inside virtual brain?

I think what you said is traditional AR method. Use a camera to capture real face, display it on the screen and then edit it (make it translucent or transparent) and then blend the modified real face with virtual brain. Am I right?
@Yixun ,
Yes. The main difference from a Vuforia style AR app is that reality is always going to bleed through a little. As I understand it, though, the brighter your objects are, the more likely they are to occlude what is behind them.

I saw a video which show that HoloLens display a hole on a real wall. Does this mean HoloLens can let us see through real object?
@Yixun No, it can't see through real objects. It is creating a 3-d object that seems to be deeper/further away than than actual wall, but only according to pre-programmed graphics. Like a 3-d movie can seem to show scenes that appear to be far beyond the actual cinema screen.
What I mean is given a virtual 3D object, can HoloLens give us a feeling that there is a hole in the wall and this 3D object can be seen through the wall. Of course there is no real hole on the wall. The reason I ask this question is HoloLens adds light rather than changing the light in the real world. I am not sure if the light generated by the virtual 3D object can dominate the light from the real wall to give us a see-through feeling.
@Yixun are you referring to something similar to this video? The HoloLens user is able to "blow up" their wall and view a Minecraft scene behind it. The part I'm referencing is at 56 seconds.

Thank you so much for your reply.
I just watched the video in "Understanding HoloLens" and it said if the holograph is before the real object, the real object is occluded. If the holograph is behind the real object, the holograph is occluded. Does this mean I cannot see a holograph behind a real object? But why in the video from Dave_W, the holograph behind the wall can be seen?
