Need to setup a simple demo of Case Western's "HoloAnatomy"

Hi folks - need some advice. I work in IT, and represent a large university-based Health Sciences Center, complete with Schools of Medicine/Pharmacy/Nursing, a full teaching hospital, comprehensive cancer center, etc. Our leadership is interested in exploring the bleeding edge of medical instruction, and would like to demo Case Western Reserve University's "HoloAnatomy" app. So far - this all sounds straight forward, right?

However - after talking with Microsoft reps, emailing their MS Tech Centers, and even corresponding directly with Case Western (they were very nice!) - it's clear that the only way we're going to be able to "demo" this instructional technology is by investing in a HoloLens unit - bringing it inhouse - and setting it up for faculty and the medical providers to demo - which, for the $3k version - they're actually willing to do!

Question - If that's really all we're needing to be able to do is download/install that HoloAnatomy app - do we need anything else? Will we be okay with just the $3k "Developers Version"? (I saw that there's a $5k "Commercial Suite", but I don't think we need the additional bells/whistles that come with that version to simply set this thing up as a technology demo - true??)

Any insights or experiences that folks could share with me would be welcome. If you need to contact me via email - please send to "mschalip@gmail.com".

Thanks in advance for the sage advice,

Michael

    Michael,

    That's all you need. Absolutely.

If you can, though, I'd suggest:

Order early and give yourself some time to learn how to use the unit ahead of time. This will make it easier for you to do the demos, which involves at a minimum getting it fitted correctly on someone's head and then teaching him how to perform the air tap and bloom gestures.

Ideally, you'll also want to be able to measure someone's Interpupillary distance so it's a more comfortable experience. You can purchase a professional tool or use the Kinect camera with free companion software Microsoft has published on github.
