Hyper V External Network Switch Keeps Disconnecting Internet

Hi There,

The external network switch keeps disconnecting the internet within the Hyper V Virtual Machine. I think it might be that my network adapter is causing the conflict.

I have a new computer and I have upgraded from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Enterprise Evaluation - Build 10586 for both my localhost computer and as the operating system for the virtual machine.

Here are the specs on my computer:

HP Pavilion Desktop 550-149
4th generation Intel i5-4690 Processor
12 GB DDR System Memory
1 TB Hard Drive
Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter

For my vm, I dedicated:

300MB Hard Drive
8192 MB RAM
4 Processors
Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter

I have read on other discussion forums that other versions of the Broadcom network adapter conflicts with Windows Server 2012:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/kb/2986895

Could someone recommend a network adapter that I should be using that is more compatible with Hyper V environments (if that is the problem)?

Thanks,
Jason

Thanks for your reply. These are helpful suggestions and I was not aware of the Insider Hub app.

I see someone posted about "hyper-v cannot add an external adapter when bound to wifi. Bound to Ethernet works fine but not wifi asus Broadcom". Windows-Feedback:?contextid=101&feedbackid=e59b717c-eb2f-4c55-bace-7e6cdc3fd902&form=1&src=2

I'm running on Intel and am using a wifi connection. I've had a few blue screen errors in the past 24 hours that have stated "SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (bcmwl63a.sys)" which appears to be one of the network adapter drivers (version 7.35.344.0).

I have wiped clean and installed fresh copies of Windows 10 Enterprise Evaluation - Build 10586 on repeated occasions with similar issues experienced each time.

If anyone is successfully using the Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter for their setup, do reply as perhaps it is something within my steps that are mucking up configuration settings?

Can someone recommend a network adapter that works for them?

If anyone else experiences this type of issue, my root cause was related to the network adapter that came with my new desktop. Upgrading the network adapter from the default Broadcom solved the issue.
