Shipping Instruction for Hololens as a LiIon battery containing equipment
Dear Sirs,
I'm planning to ship the hololens using DHL by air and required to give the battery information of it.
Official Hardware spec is only saying that "Battery Life - 2-3 hours of active use, Up to 2 weeks of standby time, Fully functional when charging".
So can I get more information of it?
Recently the regulation for the air shipment is more restricted, and requires the shipper to show the battery specs.
From the link below, Hololens might be applicable to,
"Category - UN3481 - PI967 - Section II", and,
"Lithium ion batteries - capacity Per Battery: ≤ 100Wh", and,
"Maximum number of cells and batteries per package - ≤ 2 Batteries".
Pls tell me whether my guess is right or not.
Thanks in advance,
Takesen

I think the catagory would be UN3481 since it is inside the hololens or device, and section PI967, the last column.

I think everything you've got is right except perhaps the last line. There may be more than 2 batteries.
The reason I think so is that the FedEx packaging I received the hololens in has the Caution label required for >2 batteries > 4 cells (but which would not be required if <= 2 batteries).

I can't tell from that photo, but keep in mind in engineering a "pack" could very well just be a cell. Multiple cells can be combined to increase the current handling (parallel), or the voltage (series). I'd assume it's the standard LiPo, so just picking the usual category for lithium batteries within a consumer device should suffice, I doubt they'll tear apart the battery to see.

Thanks, Maxim. Your answer is fit to my guess.
@james_ashley
Thank you for the important information.
Actually the teardown report of the VERGE shows total 6 packs of battery.
If each pack is counted as battery, then the number will be 6 and hololens has > 2 batteries. So the battery caution label is required.
Then, I will do the same for my shipping.
