Mapping the real world as a texture into unity
Ok, suppose I want to make a hole in the wall. But for the wall pieces that fall off, can I some how map the current surface as a texture? So the pieces that fall look like actual pieces of the users wall? Right now, it seems like the only "good" way is to use an explosion to transition between wall and hole.
Maybe take a picture with the camera, and then map world pixels as a texture for a particular spot?

Check out the Unity docs under Texture Components.
You might be able to get away with a 2D texture or maybe able to use the Render Texture functionality in Unity.
Here is another thread that describes a different (but loosely related) use for Render Texture that might help give you some ideas.
However, with the image from the actual photo camera of the real world you could probably assign the zone in question to a unity Texture an apply it to the 3d meshes that represent the fake chunks of wall that are getting blown away.
But wait, while looking for a link to give you on the Locatable Camera I found a link to potentially a sample of how you would go about using the camera to create a texture.
