Hello everyone.

The Mixed Reality Forums here are no longer being used or maintained.

There are a few other places we would like to direct you to for support, both from Microsoft and from the community.

The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.

For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality.

If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.

And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.

How to get certified/qualified?

I was wondering if there is any way to get a certificate or qualification for Hololens development?
I'm looking for something on a personal scale as opposed to the company readiness program.
If such a thing does not exist, can someone point me in the direction of a general VR/AR course?

What value do you see in getting a certification? Currently I don't believe there is anything for AR/VR since its so about 2/3 years old with the current platforms. If you are applying for a job, As an interviewer, I'd rather be sure you know how to develop and solve problems than know specifics of one platform you are certified for. Also platforms start up as quickly as they die. If you are looking for hololens specific stuff, then all the materials on msdn and hololens development site is the info you will find. GitHub has a lot of samples. I say study those. Develop something if you are looking for experience and host it on GitHub as example of your work. This will go a lot further than any certification.
Also if you are looking to learn how to develop, look at code academy or stuff like that. Unity has ton of training material on their engine. Currently they support the most of the platforms and they make development very easy and quick. I think you need to think about this some more and refine what exactly you're looking for.

Here is a good start for tutorials/courses:

There is no certificate that I know of but I'd suggest making a couple sample/hobby projects and build out a portfolio.
