Hello everyone.

The Mixed Reality Forums here are no longer being used or maintained.

There are a few other places we would like to direct you to for support, both from Microsoft and from the community.

The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.

For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality.

If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.

And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.

User and Password for Wifi can't typed in, why?

Hi, I try to enter my Wifi User and Password. After some seconds, the already typed letters will be deleted and I have to type them again and again and again.
It is impossible to type in all letters to connect to the WLAN.
Anybody got a solution? What I am doing wrong?

We've ran into that before. I was hoping they had fixed it because typing on the device is painful:

    Perhaps submit a bug?

Ok, good to hear that I am not the only one. You say you was hoping they had fixed it? How I can update my Hololens without having a Wifi connection? Any Ideas or Workarounds? I am not very flexible here because of a restricted company network

Well, I think you can get around it by using a bluetooth keyboard or by having your email address or password copied so you can quickly paste it.

Otherwise keep trying and eventually you'll get it between refreshes.

Probably the easiest way around this is through device portal.

    1. On the HoloLens, make sure Device Portal is enabled under Settings
    2. Connect your HoloLens to your PC via USB
    3. On your PC open a browser and navigate to http://127.0.0.1:10080
    4. If you see a certificate warning, it's OK to proceed anyway (or you can go through installing the certificates)
    5. Sign in. Then use the Network tab to create your connection (or alternatively use the virtual input tab to drive keyboard input to the HoloLens)

Unfortunately this doesn't work for the very first Out Of Box Experience because you have to put in Wifi credentials before you can complete OOBE and you can't enable the Device Portal until OOBE has been completed.

If you want to get even more advanced you can look at using Provisioning Profiles. With these I believe you can deploy wifi configurations even before OOBE has completed.
