Can't download from Windows Store & can't Update.

edited February 2017 in Questions And Answers

Able to:

  • deploy to the hololens remote machine via VS
  • access internet via Edge

Unable to:

  • download apps from the store
  • update the hololens via Settings > Update...

Not sure when this started happening, but about 2.5 weeks ago I had no problem downloading apps from the store. The following error reared its head some time late last week, and it seems to happen after clicking "Get" for any app (namely "Xbox (Beta)", because I want to pair an Xbox One Controller to the hololens):

"Try again later. Something happened on our end"

Also the update gets stuck on a seemingly endless loop.

I googled about for possible solutions but didn't find anything recent. Any help would be extremely appreciated.

This problem was due to how the company's network(s) is/are set up. Connecting to the store via a network outside of the company (I don't know the technical name, that's simply how IT at this company refers to it), updating and downloading stuff from the store works. But I'm pretty sure this comes with a caveat. The dev PC is on a different network (company internal), and that causes the hololens to not get detected by the dev PC.

Perhaps the best fix is to have both the dev PC and the hololens on the same "outside the company" network.

    Sorry for this post.
