Best practices for scanning a new room

For our application we need the HoloLens to locate itself as accurately as possible within the current room, for the alignment of virtual and physical objects to be as precise as possible. For that purpose, before showing the app to customers, we let the HoloLens forget the room it's in (some objects might have moved, the lighting might have changed) and rescan it. What, in your experience, is the best way to scan a room to get a good result in a short time? Stand in one position, not moving the head, then rotate the head, holding it still again for a second, doing so for different directions, then taking a step to the side, and repeat? Or is it better to move around slowly? Does it make sense to move close enough to all walls so the depth sensor can map them, not just the cameras? Does the air-tap in the main menu that shows a mesh emanating from me help at all by forcing a rescan of depth data? If the lighting changes (sun moves, lights go on that were off before), does a forgetting and rescanning help?

I'm greatful for any tips.
