Teaming Up With a Popular YouTuber Allowable?

AhanniganAhannigan
edited May 2016 in Discussion

I was trying to get a YouTuber to agree to allow me to use his channel only for his music to download and use the songs in videos that I was posting on YouTube as updates. It ended up in him and his group wanting to take part of the project to actually help test and develop our software. The channel group leader and the others had offered to promote and test my HoloLens and software on their pubic YouTube channel.

My question is, is this an okay thing for me to do? I don't want to accidentally step over any lines that I'm not supposed to cross. Being a female engineer student, I feel as if this can boost my reputation because now my group is being viewed by a larger audience.

The YouTube group agreed to promote me because it not only gets me out there, but they received more views and subscriptions. Plus they get to test out some cool toys.

    @Ahannigan,
    You should check your usage agreement before proceeding.
    In general, the HoloLens should stay within your team's possession, but there is no rule against sharing your creation with others, including popular YouTubers. Your team is ultimately responsible for what happens to the hardware, so as long as a member of your team can be present while they work with the device, you should be fine.

    The gear would never be separated from my team and I, I had plans to physically be there when they were going to be testing the hardware.

    I will be looking into the user agreement once more. Thank you.
