Hello everyone.

The Mixed Reality Forums here are no longer being used or maintained.

There are a few other places we would like to direct you to for support, both from Microsoft and from the community.

The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.

For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality.

If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.

And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.

How can you expect

What is wrong with you people. Why can't you pull your head out of the elite class sandbox long enough to realize that not only the rich deserve to have the benefits that a tool like this offer? How long will it take for you to care at all for the fact that 95% of the people in this world will never even hope to be able to spend $3000 on anything.

    Hey, @Nperry1.

We appreciate your concerns. To be constructive, would you please share your vision of why exactly the price is the way it is (RnD analysis, hardware costs, software costs, salaries, etc.) and propose feasible ways of making the device cheaper?

Really looking forward to seeing your suggestions!

    Cheers

The amount of RnD in the Hololens is massive and impressive. That is why the price is what it is and there is zero competition.

HoloLens was always targeted at big companies and ONLY in the U.S. Only recently has there been retail sales in Europe.

Windows Mixed Reality Headsets at $400, now dropped to $350, will be the future for Microsoft. The transition to Immersive Headset. This will slow HoloLens sales

    The are distinctly different Markets

Many people, indies developers, are targeting their HoloLens apps to Immersive headsets, and dropping HoloLens, because of selling double to 4 times as many copies on WMR headsets.

26th November Black Friday finds HP WMR Immersive at $299 and £299 and EURO 299 for two days.

The market for HoloLens is Business big Industry where $3000 is trivial.
Much of software is targeted at Architects at $1,550 a copy/version for HoloLens, and PC, which is being bought up at 10 to 50 copies a go!!

The main problems for HoloLens is keeping up with WMR Immersive, currently there is no support in HoloLens for Motion Controllers, because they require Bluetooth 4.0 and more GPU power than HoloLens has available. This means the HoloLens is kept out of the huge Steam VR available market.

The real question is do you want HoloLens Augmented Reality and Mixed Virtual Reality (AR/MR) with its Spatial mapping Camera or can you work with Occluded
Headset with the same Holographic display capabilities and Spatial Sound at 10%

Theses are my personal views and thoughts, not those of any organisation
