The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.

For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality.

If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.

And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.

Using phone as additional input device

Hi,

I'm creating a library and an app for using a phone as input for VR and AR. I think it could have interesting applications in HoloLens.

I'm looking for people that want to try the current beta version. I have tested it in Unity for VR and it works quite well.

If you are interested in trying it please let me know, your feedback would be very valuable to understand better the needs of AR developers.

This seems like a ridiculously good idea. Despite MS seeming to really not want to go in that direction, Hololens will need a controller. Why not just use smartphones which already have all the sensors and customisability?

Hey thanks. I actually think computer vision is quite good for many uses in AR, but you just can't get (at least so far) the precision levels a touchscreen can give you for example, or the orientation from its sensors. I think as additional input can have many uses, and fill some lacks in technology we still have.
