The Holograms app itself is its own standalone application and cannot have custom holograms added to it.
What I believe @shakirajane is saying is that you can add your own holographic applications to HoloLens. If there is a hologram you want to see, you can make it and deploy it onto the HoloLens by making your own app. The link is to an introductory course.9

In the mixed reality headset home are these holograms full screen or do they sit in your home? I would really like to make applications that are 3d but don't take you out of the home.
Yes it is possible but not via the Holograms app. You need to use the 3D viewer app instead. Create a file in Blender. Save as fbx. Import into paint3D and save in glb file format. Enter the Cliffhouse, Skyloft or custom environment and launch the 3D viewer app. Browse for your glb file and place you 3D model anywhere inside your environment. Note there is a size limit to models.
