HoloLens Commercial Suite - Kiosk Mode?
MS Just posted: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWS3C95aehQ

They are advertising KIOSK mode. Was this added in the latest update or is it Commercial Suite only? I need this for my current application.

Got a response on Twitter - "The commercial features are available in the Commercial Suite, which requires a separate purchase besides the Dev Edition".
Considering the price that was paid for the Dev Edition, and that it's not a commercially available product yet, I believe these are features that should be enabled. Also considering my Win10 Pro computer has VPN and Bitlocker - something you can only get by paying for the commercial suite, it doesn't seem right.
With the product that I'm building - targeting a larger customer, I have no way of testing any of these features until they have buy-in and pay extra for this (Kiosk Mode being essential for my product).
Thoughts anyone?

I've emailed them for clarification, waiting on a response. I'll post here when I receive it.

Its not commercially available yet. The device you bought is for development. A developer does not need kiosk mode.
The bottom line is that Hololens is not actually released to the general public yet, so you should not expect to be able to use it commercially yet.
Yes I understand that it's not commercially available yet. I would argue that all features should be available to developers, especially considering the price paid for a dev kit.
In my case, I would like to demo my app to customers in Kiosk mode - the mode that the final app needs to run in. I have no way of testing this without buying the commercial suite or forcing a potential customer to incur this cost to use my app after purchase.
That(Commercial Suited) is a different SKU not the Hololens we bought. This is confirmed by me with Microsoft. Ours can not be enhanced.
It's a different SKU but the same hardware. Ours can be "enhanced", it's just software.
Not sure why they want to keep these features away from the Devs that need to use them and are building the apps needed to sell the hardware.
This is incorrect.
Prior to the May 2016 HoloLens update, our units included a Kiosk mode. They removed this feature with the update, and it's clear now why they did so. They don't want our developer devices being used for commercial installations, especially considering the restrictions on purchasing HoloLens units have been lifted (5 units instead of 2, no more application and approval process).
Fair enough. But as the point that's being made here, we need these features in order to test our applications for their eventual deployment environments.
Yeah this is pretty outrageous--completely boneheaded. When I show the device off in demos, I want to put it into kiosk mode. I'm not using it in a commercial installation, just giving demos to users that are sometimes unassisted.
A truly mystifying decision.

Just got an email back from Hololens Support about upgrading one of my companies devices to the commercial suite. "Unfortunately, at this time there is no path to upgrade from the developer edition to the commercial suite. This can only be purchased initially with commercial orders."
I just received a reply back myself. I think they are listening, here is the response I received over email:
"Very valid question. At this point we are considering offering the ability to purchase an upgrade SKU to enable the enterprise features, etc on the developer edition device. However this has not been acted on yet, please stay tuned. "
It may be some time though. I'm sure it would be higher priority if people were to all make this suggestion over email
IMHO, I would not consider the response "We are considering letting you pay an extra $2000 to turn your Dev device into a Commercial device" listening to us...
Just my $0.02....
