Will there be any way to develop an holographic app without having the dev kit?

Just to close on this thread -- the HoloLens emulator will be available March 30th. Love the excitement here!
Raven and I both posted the Developer Documentation that you'll need to get started in understand the emulator's capabilities and how to work with it.

Microsoft tools for HoloLens will be available on March 30th. In the meantime, I guess Microsoft is getting documentation ready for HoloLens development.
Windows10 Universal Mobile Apps
Any chance we can get early access to download the Emulator? I'd like to start getting up to speed with it before my device arrives on the 30th.
I know it is stated that the emulator requires hyper-v configuration however is it possible for vmware instead? Thanks.
Thanks for the heads up Raven

when can we download the emulator? Does the purchase of a real HoloLens necessary to download the Dev Kit including the emulator?
shanavt, It looks like the point of the emulator is to empower anyone, whether they have a headset or not, to build Windows Holographic apps. So no -- you don't need to purchase a HoloLens in order to use the emulator. It's supposed to be available at launch on March 30.

james as you know better emulator can help but if you are going to develop a production app you need a real device...
@gsantopaolo, I think the really hard part will be doing any sort of serious user experience design without a physical device. true.

Hello guys, I have a doubt. I read some posts stating that the hololens emulator and developer documentation is available now. I am able to see the documentation but not able to download Hololens emulator by any means. I referred this link - mspoweruser.com/developers-hololens-emulator-and-developer-documentation-now-available/. I just need to confirm that we can't download emulator before 30th march!!
hi @AnKiIiNeM
A moderator give me this reply "We have not yet released the HL Emulator. We will definitely post an announcement when we do. In the meantime, the Unity emulator is quite good at visualizaing 3D worlds." Maybe the Emulator could be download before 30th march Fingers crossed

@shanavt: Anyone will be able to download the emulator and tools. This is not tied to purchase of a device in any way.
@Bryan: No, there is no way for you to get access to the emulator and tools ahead of the launch on 3/30.
@Jason: No, the requirement for the emulator is to be able to run Hyper-V. There is no way to leverage VMware instead.
On YouTube is a series of video articles on development using the HoloLens Emulator https://youtube.com/watch?v=qotpUpIQxVU

This uses Unity 5 to build to Visual 2015 SP1 C# code and deploy to the HoloLens Emulator
@Jimbohalo10 for the project Origami I have followed all the instructions and was able to export into visual studio etc. however i believe that this one does require the hololens device I have not been able to bring it up on the emulator yet, I am working on it but I only get a white dot. , has anybody get it to work on the emulator?
