Threading in Unity-HoloLens

Hello, we commonly use System.Threading.Thread to run processes in background.
We understand traditional Threads are not available on UWP, and it looks like we should use System.Threading.Tasks instead. BUT it seems we can't either use Tasks when trying to build for HoloLens using Unity 5.4.0f3-HTP (Windows Store -> Universal 10 D3D build). Looks like a .NET 3.5 framework issue. What shall we do? Is there any workaround for this? Thanks!
