The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.

For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality.

If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.

download folder

Hi, Does anyone know how through the app I get to the download folder of the Hololens?
(I want to load a file that I transferred through the USB cable)

  • Hi. If I understand you correctly, I think you may hit upon the situation where a UWP app is only allowed to read the files from the downloads folder that it created in the first place (see the docs here for info).

This would be different to (say) the pictures folder which can be accessed via the KnownFolders class if the app has the right permisions/capabilities set to allow it.

The only way I can think of getting around that if you really need the downloads folder is to open a file dialog and let the user select it themselves from the downloads folder as I think that would work.

  • Hey thanks for the help
How do I get permissions to the known folders?
    " StorageFolder appFolder = KnownFolders.Objects3D;"
After that, I can not access the files in this folder
