We have decided to phase out the Mixed Reality Forums over the next few months in favor of other ways to connect with us.
The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.
The plan between now and the beginning of May is to clean up old, unanswered questions that are no longer relevant. The forums will remain open and usable.
On May 1st we will be locking the forums to new posts and replies. They will remain available for another three months for the purposes of searching them, and then they will be closed altogether on August 1st.
So, where does that leave our awesome community to ask questions? Well, there are a few places we want to engage with you. For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality. If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers. And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.
Packaging and Sideload
I have tried to package the Origami project in the tutorial Holograms 101e and sideload the app from Windows Device Portal but failed...
I followed the steps described on this page: Packaging Universal Windows apps for Windows 10.
After building the Origami project in Unity, there are 3 projects in solution "Origami" when opened in Visual Studio. Only the "Origami(Universal Windows)" one has the "Store" option, so I clicked on it.
In the "Create an App package" section, for step 3, I chose "No", since I'm not going to publish the app to the Windows Store.
And in the same section, step 6, I unchecked x64 and ARM because if they are checked, when creating the package it will ask for these files: Origami\App\Origami\Plugins\x64\AudioPluginMsHRTF.dll and Origami\App\Origami\Plugins\ARM\AudioPluginMsHRTF.dll, while I only have Origami\App\Origami\Plugins\X86 directory(after build the project in Unity).
Then I clicked "create", it generated a file called: Origami_188.8.131.52_x86.appxsym.
After the package was generated, I tried to install it in the Windows Device Portal, it gave this error:
Failure reason: Failed to start deployment. Failure text: Package could not be opened. (0x80073cf0)
Did I miss anything? What is the correct way to package an application for HoloLens?
