Holographic Dreams & Advice
Hello, I was lucky enough to try HoloLens at a demo event the other day and I am wondering if I could get some advice from the community. I am not a developer and can by no means afford the developers kit, but I am completely enthusiastic about this technology and the potentials for interactive media.
I am a media creator with a growing community and I would like to create an app to present an entire environment within your room with interactive 3D features that link up to outside accounts. For instance, I would like a TV to display my YouTube, a radio to play my Bandcamp and SoundCloud, a treasure chest to showcase different popular items from my Etsy store that users can buy, and eventually I would like to have key members of the community presented in avatar form for users to interact with. (I understand the depth of the interaction is very important and I hope to tackle that soon). Many of these things are feasible from what I saw in the demo, so my question is, what can I do? Is diving into Unity and rendering 3D images via the emulator the best idea for me? Would it be useful to build this in another environment like a website or would that be a waste of time as there is no simple conversion between platforms?
Thank you!

I mostly see the potential for this technology once it enters the home and the ability to create a really immersive experience for brands. I know we're a ways off before everyone has HoloLens at home, but what can I say, I'm always livin in the future.

There's a cool app on Android called learn C#, and I highly recommend the 3DBuzz.com videos for learning the fundamentals of programming.
This is indeed the future, and even if you don't know what you're doing yet, you can still put holographic application development experience on the resume by just jumping on it.6 -

Dive into unity and the emulator and make anything!
You don't have to be an expert to start, but you can easily become one I bet you could put a piece of your ideas together in a weekend.

@Unicole another thing I encourage you to do is to check for local user groups and Meetups in your area that have a HoloLens focus.
By attending a few local meetings you will get a chance to interact with others interested in Windows Holographic that you can learn along side with. Many of the groups also have a diverse membership of people with different skills.
You might meet some people with complimentary talents that you can partner with while working to make your Holographic Dreams a reality.
